News Item New version of the QSAR Toolbox to be introduced in a workshop in November
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), in collaboration with the OECD, invites industry users to a workshop introducing version 3.0 of the QSAR Toolbox on 20 November in Helsinki. Companies are asked to express their interest in participating to the event by 17 October.
News Item Second Lead Registrant Workshop - last call to register
Registration for the workshop closes on 21 September. If you are a lead registrant intending to register for the 2013 or 2018 REACH registration deadline, notify us of your role using the lead registrant notification webform to get your invitation to the workshop. ECHA is also offering to reimburse the travel and accomodation costs for SME lead registrants on a first come, first served basis. An updated agenda for the workshop is available on the ECHA website. The Agenda includes detailed topics, timings and presenter names for each of the plenary sessions. The workshop will be webstreamed live and a video recording of the workshop presentations will be published on the ECHA website shortly after the event.
News Item ECHA strengthens its compliance check strategy
ECHA is introducing a new systematic targeting of compliance checks based on specified concerns. This will increase the chances for dossiers of insufficient compliance to be scrutinised and ensure higher compliance of REACH registrations.

Event ECHA announces two new webinars open for all – A series of webinars on bringing registration dossiers in compliance with REACH and a webinar on substance evaluation (from Sep 27, 2012 03:00 AM to Oct 05, 2012 02:00 PM)
The first of the new webinar series provides feedback to registrants on how to submit information on chemical substances in the technical dossier to ECHA, in compliance with REACH. The second webinar gives an overview of the purpose of substance evaluation under REACH and its practical implementation. It covers important recommendations for registrants on how to cooperate with ECHA and the evaluating Member States if their substance is selected for substance evaluation. News Item ECHA launches a public consultation on 54 potential Substances of Very High Concern
The public consultation will be open for 45 days and will end on 18 October 2012. Interested parties can post their comments on the ECHA website. The European Commission has requested ECHA to prepare Annex XV dossiers for 37 substances on their behalf. Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and the United Kingdom have also put forward proposals for the identification of 17 substances. Amongst the substances, 44 are proposed to be identified as SVHCs on the basis of their classifications as carcinogenic, mutagenic and/or toxic for reproduction (REACH Article 57(a–c)). One of these substances is also suggested as being of equivalent concern in accordance with Article 57(f) based on its endocrine disrupting properties.
Event Second Lead registrant workshop (from Oct 11, 2012 09:40 AM to Oct 12, 2012 09:40 AM)
ECHA organises its second workshop for lead registrants from 11 to 12 October 2012 in Helsinki. The workshop is targeted at lead registrants and will take place in ECHA's conference centre. As for the previous workshop in February 2012, the content will be coordinated together with the Agency's Accredited Stakeholder Organisations and industry associations who will be leading parts of the programme.
News Item Presentations and recording of ECHA's seventh Stakeholders' Day are now available
Experts from the chemical industry and stakeholders from around the world gathered together in Helsinki on 23 May for the European Chemicals Agency's (ECHA) seventh Stakeholders' Day. The event was attended by over 300 participants and a further 350 followed it via web-streaming. The presentations and the recording of the event are now available on ECHA's website.

News Item REACH 2013 campaign - ECHA publishes registration expections
A list of substances intended to be registered for 2013 is available on ECHA's website. From this list, industry can check which substances are already planned to be registered by the 2013 deadline by their manufacturers or importers and which substances already have a lead registrant.
